The Legacy of Conflict - A Discussion

About

A live Zoom conversation between Paula McFetridge, Artistic Direcor of Kabosh Theatre and Paula Van Hagen, Director of Chats Palace arts centre in London, on the methodology used by Kabosh to help communities deal with the legacy of conflict and how this has toured nationally and internationally.

Founded in 1994, Belfast-based Kabosh is committed to challenging the idea of what theatre is, who it is for and where it takes place. Inspired by the sites, spaces and people of the north of Ireland, Kabosh commissions powerful political work to help communities deal with the legacy of conflict. The work is toured locally, nationally and internationally into a range of theatres and non-theatre spaces. Performances are accompanied by facilitated discussion and related workshops to support local artists and activists. Kabosh believes in the politics of theatre to transform people's lives.

Chats Palace is an inclusive, inter-generational arts centre working with and for the diverse communities of Hackney. Firmly rooted in a rich artistic heritage, Chats Palace has a key role in Hackney’s growing cultural quarter, working in a dynamic new partnerships with London Borough of Hackney and the broadest range of arts and non-arts partners to catalyse creative potential across east London. By championing local creativity, dialogue and debate we aim to make a meaningful contribution to the health, well-being and cohesion of our community through the breadth of our activities and depth of engagement these engender.
